Features
Everything in pgjumbo today, the same on macOS, Windows and Linux.
Connections
Reach any PostgreSQL server, on your laptop, in the cloud or behind a bastion host.
- Saved servers
- Host, port, database and user, with the password kept in Keychain, Credential Manager or the Secret Service, or asked for each time.
- Test connection
- Plain messages for a wrong password, an unreachable host, a TLS problem or a timeout.
- Groups, colours and tags
- Folders you rename and reorder, a colour for each server, and a Dev, Staging or Production tag.
- Every TLS mode
- Each sslmode, a root certificate, a client certificate and key, and revocation lists.
- SSH tunnels
- Password, private key or ssh-agent, with each host key checked and remembered.
- URIs and services
- Paste a postgres:// URI to fill in the form, or name a service from pg_service.conf.
- Import and export
- Your server list as a file, and pgAdmin's servers.json read as it is.
- Read-only connections
- Sessions that start read-only, for servers you only want to look at.
- Amazon RDS and Aurora
- IAM sign-in with a fresh token for each connection, verify-full with the RDS certificate bundle from AWS, and writer and reader endpoints.
Explorer and Inspector
Every object on the server in one tree, and the details of whatever you select.
- One tree for the server
- Databases, schemas, tables, views, functions, sequences, types, roles, tablespaces, extensions, publications and the rest, grouped under Databases, Security, Storage and Management.
- Counts and row estimates
- A count on every folder and the estimated rows beside every table.
- Filter and Open Quickly
- Filter the tree by name, or jump to any object in a database you have open from one search box.
- Folder filters
- Narrow one folder by name or owner.
- Object Details
- A folder's objects as a sortable list with owner, rows and size. Tick several and script, drop, vacuum or grant on them at once.
- Right-click menus
- Query Tool, View Data, Script as, Properties, Tasks, Reports, Copy name, Refresh and Drop, with Script as, Tasks and Reports submenus as in SQL Server Management Studio.
- Inspector
- A summary, the CREATE script with its grants, statistics and dependencies for the selected object.
Query Tool
A SQL editor and results grid with a connection of its own in every tab.
- A connection per tab
- Each tab holds its own session, so a long query in one never holds up another. A lost session is never silently reconnected.
- An editor that knows PostgreSQL
- Suggestions from your schema, syntax errors underlined as you type, Quick Info on hover, Go to Definition and Format SQL.
- Run what you mean
- The selection, the statement at the cursor, or the whole script, with each statement's progress shown as it runs.
- Stop
- Cancel a running query and keep working in the same tab.
- Results
- One result tab per statement that returns rows, each column's type in its header, results as text the way psql prints them, and geometry on a map.
- Messages
- Notices and errors with SQLSTATE, detail and hint, and the error's place underlined in the editor.
- Transactions
- Auto-commit or manual Commit and Rollback, with the transaction's state always in view.
- Explain
- The plan as a table, a diagram, text or JSON, with the slowest step and bad row estimates marked.
- Run on several databases
- One script on many databases, a few at a time, the results merged into one grid with server and database columns.
- History, files and drafts
- Every query you ran, searchable, with passwords masked. .sql files, and unsaved tabs restored after a restart.
- Library
- Templates with values to fill in, your own snippets, and a folder of .sql files.
- Session settings
- search_path, role, statement_timeout, lock_timeout and work_mem for one tab.
Data
Browse and change rows, with every edit held until you save it.
- View data
- A table's rows with a filter, sorting and a row limit, all run on the server.
- Edit in place
- Change, add and delete rows. Nothing is written until Save, and Review SQL shows the statements first.
- Editors that fit the type
- Lists for booleans and enums, a date picker, Now for times, a JSON box that checks and indents, and a NULL button.
- Follow foreign keys
- Go from a value to the row it references.
- Import and export
- CSV, text or binary through COPY, a CSV file into a new table, and results saved as CSV or JSON.
Objects
Create and change objects in tabs of their own, and read each statement before it runs.
- A tab for each object
- Tables, views, materialized views, functions, procedures, sequences, types, schemas, databases, roles, extensions, tablespaces, publications, subscriptions, foreign servers and more.
- Review before Save
- Each statement with the lock it takes and whether it rewrites the table, the safer way one tick away, and a lock timeout. Save opens it by itself when a statement would hold up the table, and always on Production.
- Create from a form
- Tables, views, functions, schemas, databases, roles and more, with the SQL to read before it runs.
- Roles and privileges
- Logins, memberships, limits and expiry, GRANT and REVOKE on tables, schemas, databases, functions and more, and a grant wizard for many at once.
- What a role can do
- Everything a role can reach in a database, directly or through the roles it belongs to.
- Script as and Generate Scripts
- An object as CREATE, DROP and CREATE, SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE or EXECUTE in a new Query Tool. Many objects in dependency order to a Query Tool, a file, a file per object or the clipboard.
- Drop with care
- See what CASCADE would take with it before anything is dropped.
- Diagrams
- A schema's tables and foreign keys drawn as a diagram you can arrange and zoom, exported as PNG or SVG.
- Schema diff
- Compare a schema with the same schema in another database or on another server, see both scripts side by side, and get the script that makes them match. Nothing runs until you run it.
Administration
Watch the server, keep it healthy, and move data in and out of it.
- Activity
- Live sessions, locks, waits and blocking chains, with cancel and terminate.
- Server configuration
- Search every setting and change it with ALTER SYSTEM. The statements show before you save, and Save reloads.
- Authentication, replication and logs
- The pg_hba rules as the server read them, replication slots and standbys, and the server's log, inside the server's tab.
- Backup and restore
- pg_dump, pg_dumpall, pg_restore and psql with their options, run as jobs with a live log.
- Copy a database
- pg_dump into psql on the same or another connected server, as one job.
- Maintenance
- VACUUM, ANALYZE, REINDEX, CLUSTER, REFRESH MATERIALIZED VIEW and integrity checks with amcheck.
- Reports
- Top queries, wait events, replication, transaction ID age, checkpoints, disk usage, index usage and table health.
- Health check
- Findings to fix first, then to look at, with a fix script to open and run yourself where one helps.
- Scheduled jobs
- pg_cron jobs and their runs, with each schedule written out in words.
- LISTEN and NOTIFY
- Watch notifications arrive on the channels you name, and send your own.
Assistant
Claude, through the Claude Code you already use. It reads what you allow and proposes; you decide.
- Your own Claude Code
- pgjumbo starts the Claude Code you installed and signed in to, with pgjumbo's tools only. Use counts against your own plan or API key.
- Reads only what you allow
- Access levels for Dev, Staging and Production servers, and every read shown in the conversation.
- SQL help
- Why a query is slow and what to change, a fix for an error, and a sentence turned into SQL in the editor with ⌘K or Ctrl+K.
- Performance and configuration
- What slows the server now, and settings proposed as a draft you review.
- Changes explained
- Review sheets in plain words, new tables and roles drafted in a tab, and fixes to tables, functions and views staged in theirs for you to save.
- Database guides
- A guide to a database or schema: its areas, its data flows and its open questions.
- Knowledge base
- Notes and conventions in a folder of Markdown files you keep, which each conversation starts from and searches.
Desktop app
A real desktop app on each system, down to the menus, the keys and the dark mode.
- Native menus and keys
- The system's menu bar, ⌘ on macOS and Ctrl on Windows and Linux, and no shortcut on Ctrl+Alt, so AltGr keeps typing.
- Light and dark
- Follows the system's appearance, or the one you choose.
- Workspace restored
- The window, the panes and the open Query Tool tabs come back as you left them.
- Tabs your way
- Pin tabs, close the others, list every open tab, and put two side by side.
- Diagnostics
- A report of your version, system and settings for a bug report, without server names, hosts or queries, shown before you copy it.
- No telemetry
- No analytics. Beyond your own servers, pgjumbo talks only to the Claude Code you turn on and a map tile server you name.
